Starting Your Garden Project
Once you have a plan, know what plants you wish to plant and the climate your working with you can then get started with your new garden project.
Gympie has a subtropical climate, so what types of things can you plant in this zone?
Frangipani – These beautiful fragrant trees create a wonderful tropical mood. They don’t need a lot of care. Make sure that you don’t give your frangipani too much water in winter as this can cause rot. Frangipanis come in different colours; pink, orange and you will be familiar with the common white with yellow centre.
Bougainvillea – Adding a bougainvillea to your garden will give you stunning colour and interest.
Bird-of-paradise – They are able to be in full sun and when cared for grow really well. These stunning plants add colour and interest to your tropical garden.
• Camellias can be used to create a stunning and flowering hedge. Camellias can grow from Tasmania to tropical Queensland so are the perfect plant to grow in your new look garden.
Gardenias – perfect for borders or you can get some varieties that grow to 3 metres tall. The flowers have wonderful perfume that make your garden smell amazing.
There are many more plants that you can plant in a sub-tropical climate the list above is just a sample.
Plants are not the only thing that can add character and charm to your outdoor spaces. Adding chairs, statues, creating spaces for kids to run wild and to play is vital to show future buyers how they can use the space for their family.
If your garden needs a path, it is advisable to create one. Not knowing how to enter and exit the garden is confusing for buyers. Paths also create interest and allows you to section different areas for different purposes.
Adding a deck or pergola is another great idea to allow spaces to have more use; on your new deck you can have a BBQ, table and chairs. If you decide upon a pergola you can have it with a roof or one that is open to allow a vine (climbing roses or bougainvillea) to climb over the structure and add to the ambience.
