Gympie is the Place to Be!

2020 was a tough year.
It was a year that made people re-think what they wanted from life, and one main thing that many changed was where they lived.
Workplaces made the shift to remote work due to COVID restrictions and many employers have seen the benefits of having staff work remotely still.
So, if you are working from home why not work from a place that you love?

Why are people migrating north?
• If you can work from home, why not be somewhere you want to be. Families are leaving Melbourne and Sydney for the warmer climate of regional Queensland, and I do not blame them; It is truly fabulous in Gympie!
• A focus on community, better weather and lifestyle factors are driving the surge in relocating to the sunshine state.
• A simpler life in a regional town – prices for houses are cheaper than in the city of Melbourne and Sydney and therefore you can be debt-free or close to it.
• Living expenses are cheaper.
• Ability to get involved in sports and have time to exercise before and after work.
• More time for family.
• Less stress in a smaller town compared to a bigger city. No long commute as well as no long queues in supermarkets.

“2000 people a week moved to the state (Queensland) during the June and September quarters as Sydney and Melbourne experienced an exodus of people.” https://inqld.com.au/news/2021/02/02/population-drift-to-city-reverses-as-queensland-welcomes-2000-southerners-a-week/

COVID did make us all revaluate what we want out of life. Do you want to be constantly stuck in traffic all the time? Spending more and more time with loved ones during lockdown added some stresses, but also opened people’s eyes to possibilities of what can happen if you rethink your plans.

Many families were cut off from relatives and some of course live in Queensland. Moving to be closer to the family is ideal especially if you have children, as they can be near their grandparents. Plus having the support of family is always nice as a parent, so it is a win-win.
Not only has 2020 changed the nature of work, but it has also changed the way we are building homes. There is more of an emphasis on home offices and dedicated areas to allow family members to have their own space.
Many people who have decided to leave the city for a regional life have commented on how it has made them more relaxed.

“Recent Australian Bureau of Statistics data showed a net loss of 11,247 people were recorded in capital cities in the September 2020 quarter as residents rushed to regional areas.” https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/pandemic-pushes-city-slickers-to-queensland-country-towns-20210205-p5701r.html

So, as you can see there is no surprise why there is a surge in real estate prices in Queensland. It is the place to be. I do not know about you but being somewhere warm and near a beach is ideal in my book.
